R&B singer Mary J Blige is set to star in a biopic of the late soul diva Nina Simone.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the film will be made by MTV Films and will follow Simone's rise to fame and her relationship with manager Clifton Henderson.
The film will be Blige's most significant role to date; she previously starred in the films 'Prison Song' and 'Angel: One More Road to Cross'.
Writer Cynthia Mort, whose credits include 'Roseanne' and 'Will & Grace', is writing the screenplay.
