Following the announcement that he and wife Jessica Simpson have split up, it has been revealed that Nick Lachey is to play a newlywed on the pilot episode of a new TV show.
The Associated Press says Lachey will play a baseball star trying to get to grips with married life.
The pilot episode for the show will be written by 'Mad About You' co-creator Danny Jacobson.
Shooting of the half-hour pilot is to take place in April.
