A number of 'Coronation Street' stars are set to take part in a Christmas pantomime special for ITV.

The show is set to combine a selection of pantomime favourites rolled into one, with plenty of special effects, singing and dancing from the soap stars.

Those taking part in the hour-long show, due to be broadcast over the Christmas period, include Debra Stephenson and Bradley Walsh, who played troubled couple Frankie and Danny Baldwin in 'Coronation Street'.

Stephenson, who recently took part in Celebrity Fame Academy, is due to play the role of Cinderella in the production, with her on-screen husband Walsh playing Prince Charming.

Stepehenson said: "The pantomime is going to be such a great way to celebrate everything that is Christmas and I am really looking forward to all the singing and dancing."

Tina O'Brien, who stars as Sarah Platt in the soap, will play Lady Lou Hardup, with Malcolm Hebden (Norris Cole) and David Neilson (Roy Cropper) cast as the Ugly Sisters.

Nikki Sanderson, who used to play hairdresser Candice Stowe in the soap, will take on the role of Princess Pop Tart, while Danny Young (Warren Baldwin) will play Prince Twinkletoes. Roy Hudd (Archie Shuttleworth) will play Dandini.

'Coronation Street' series editor Gareth Phillips said: "We've taken the best from the traditional pantomimes and given them a 'Street' twist."
