After tabloid speculation about the health of their marriage, 'Newlyweds' stars Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have confirmed that they have split up.
In a joint statement released to Us Weekly in the US yesterday, they said: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways."
The statement continued: "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Us Weekly had reported a month ago that the couple had split up, but representatives for the duo denied the report.
The couple married in the autumn of 2002.
