15 documentary films have been shortlisted for possible nomination in the Best Documentary Feature category for the 78th Academy Awards.
82 eligible films were submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences this year.
Traditionally 12 films were chosen for the shortlist but, faced with a documentary renaissance, the Academy's documentary branch screening committee raised the upper limit under a new rule change.
Last year 'Born Into Brothels', directed by Zana Briski and Ross Kauffman, won the Oscar.
