It has been announced that Brian Kennedy will represent Ireland in next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Athens.
Under new selection plans unveiled by RTÉ today, Kennedy will sing a song which will be chosen by a public vote.
Commenting, Kevin Linehan, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment Programmes, RTÉ Television, said that RTÉ was delighted Kennedy would represent Ireland and that the challenge now was to find the "show-stopping song" he would perform on the night.
Four songs will be shortlisted from those submitted and the compositions will be performed by Kennedy and voted upon by the public in a one-hour television special in the early spring.
