Simon Cowell, who is currently acting as a judge on 'X Factor', has been named Showbusiness Personality of the Year at the Variety Club Show Business Awards.
The late 'Countdown' host Richard Whiteley was also honoured at the ceremony in London last night, being named Most Popular Presenter.
Carol Vorderman, who worked on the show with Whiteley, accepted the award on his behelf, after he was voted in ahead of Phillip Schofield, Fern Britton, Richard Madeley, Judy Finnigan and Carol Vorderman herself.
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey was named Terrestrial TV Personality of the Year, after the success of his shows 'Hell's Kitchen' and 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares'.
Catherine Tate picked up the Comedy Award and Katie Melua was named Recording Artist of the Year at the ceremony, which was hosted by Myleene Klass.
Actor Stephen Fry picked up the award for Outstanding Contribution to Showbusiness.
