A recent car accident involving reality television star Paris Hilton has become the subject of a police investigation.
According to reports, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos was driving Hilton's Bentley at the time of the crash.
The car accident, which occurred after Hilton and Niarchos left a Hollywood nightclub, was videotaped by an onlooker and released via the Internet.
According to reports, the car slammed into a truck and then left the scene. The car was later pulled over by Los Angeles police officers, who questioned them before allowing them to leave.
The tape also reportedly shows Hilton blowing a kiss to one of the police officers, while saying: "Thank you officer - we love the police".
Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, said: "At the end of the day what seems to be going on here is that Paris is the only victim. She's going to be stuck with the tab of repairing that car."
"It's all very upsetting (for Hilton) as you might imagine. But the important thing is that no one was injured," Mintz said.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that it had opened an investigation to establish whether the officers who pulled the car over should have detained Niarchos to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
