Oscar-winning actress Shelley Winters is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a heart attack.
According to reports, the family of the 85-year-old actress released a statement saying that Winters had suffered the heart attack last Friday.
The family statement said: "Over the past few days, she has become much stronger, and Shelley is nearly back to her normal self."
The statement also thanked well-wishers for messages of support, saying: "We are so thankful to Shelley's fans for their support and words of encouragement."
Among Winters' credits are 'The Diary of Anne Frank', 'A Patch of Blue', 'A Place in the Sun', 'Alfie' and 'The Poseidon Adventure'.
