Bono had discussions over lunch with US President George W Bush at the White House yesterday.
Bono was in Washington DC to play two concerts and was invited to the White House to continue the discussions he and the American President had at the G8 Summit in Scotland in July.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said of the two men's meeting: "Both share a deep commitment to combating AIDS, preventing malaria, and expanding trade to lift people out of poverty, particularly in developing countries."
When asked if there would be a job for Bono in the Bush administration, McClellan said: "I haven't heard that. I think he's enjoying the career that he has right now and doing all the good work that he does on behalf of people who are suffering in developing countries."
