A judge at Balbriggan District Court has dismissed three driving charges, including one of careless driving, against the former Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
The charges related to an alleged incident in September 2002 when the singer was stopped by gardai on the M1 in Balbriggan in County Dublin.
Today Judge Patrick Brady said a delay in the proceedings of more than two years by the State amounted to an unwarranted invasion of his right to a speedy trial.
