Pop singer Britney Spears has removed a jewel-encrusted bra from an eBay auction to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina because she claims there is confusion about the garment.
Spears donated several wardrobe items and other personal belongings, including furniture, to the online auction.
However, the bra, which attracted bids of over $60,000, was withdrawn from the sale on Saturday, according to an eBay spokesperson.
In a message posted on the singer's official website, Spears said that she was "concerned that some of you might be confusing this bra with something that it's not."
The message continued: "it is not the one I wore onstage during the 'Baby One More Time' performance."
"I feel the correct thing to do is remove this item from the auction because I don't want any of you to feel misled," Spears said.
The bra was earlier pulled from the auction by a member of eBay staff who was concerned that it violated company policy because it was an undergarment that had already been worn, by the singer during a promotion for an HBO concert special.
However, this decision was later reversed as the garment was considered to fall into the category of entertainment memorabilia.
