Bono and Bob Geldof have been installed as third favourites to win this year's Nobel Peace Prize, which is announced on Friday, 7 October.
Reuters reports that the duo's odds were reduced from 66-1 to 7-1 by some bookmakers after a Norwegian prize commentator placed them among his favourites.
However, experts remain divided about whether the five-member Nobel committee will be innovative again, having awarded the Prize last year to Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai.
Janne Haaland Matlary, a Professor of Political Science at Oslo University, said: "If the prize branches out to virtually anything that is trendy, it stands to lose the intent that Alfred Nobel had - to prevent war. I think there are two acute problems in the world - anti-terror work and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."
Former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari is the favourite to win the Prize, having brokered a peace deal between Indonesia and Aceh rebels.
