The BBC has announced that singer-turned-actor David Essex will be joining the cast of 'EastEnders'.
Essex will appear on screens for a fixed period in early 2006 as Jack Edwards, the father of new Albert Square arrival Honey (Emma Barton).
Few details have been revealed about Essex's character, but he will be a "colourful charmer".
Commenting on Essex's casting, the Executive Producer of 'EastEnders', Kate Harwood, said: "David is an extremely gifted and charismatic actor. His character Jack is going to bring some real sparkle to the square. Following the great news about Phil Daniels, this is another exciting signing for the show."
