The first musical which Elton John and lyricist Bernie Taupin have written together is due to open on Broadway in April.
Billboard reports that 'Lestat' premieres on 17 December at San Francisco's Curran Theatre and opens at the Palace Theatre on Broadway on 13 April, with previews from 11 March.
Based on the characters created by author Anne Rice in her books 'Interview with the Vampire', 'The Vampire Lestat' and 'Queen of the Damned', the musical will feature 'Phantom of the Opera' star Hugh Panero in the lead role.
Commenting on his work with John on the musical, Taupin said: "We have unified these books into a linear storyline and our intention is to make a stylish, sexy, intelligent and richly hypnotic show."
