Pete Doherty's band Babyshambles have been voted Worst Act of the Summer in an NME poll of 10,000 music fans.

Babyshambles topped the category which was headed up by Oasis last year, after a series of disappointing performances and no-shows.

The group recently pulled out of a support slot for Oasis after Doherty failed to show up for the concert. He claimed he had missed a flight from France, where he had been attending fashion designer Hedi Slimane's birthday party.

In the same poll, Foo Fighters were voted Best Band of the Summer, with Kasabian and Arcade Fire tying in second place. Kaiser Chiefs were voted Unexpected Hit of the Summer.
