Rapper Kanye West is suing a Chicago DJ to stop him releasing master tapes that the star recorded in 1995.
West filed a lawsuit against Eric 'E-Smoove' Miller and his Focus Music Group in a US District Court in Chicago earlier this week.
West claims that Miller used a forged recording agreement to try securing distribution deals for nine unreleased tracks, written and performed by the rapper.
According to the lawsuit, Miller approached a number of music companies to distribute the tracks, which West recorded as a teenager.
West claims that he never made any contract with Miller about the release of the music and is suing for violation of his publicity, privacy and trademark rights. He is seeking $100,000 in general damages and $200,000 in punitive damages.
