Street star facing driving probe

'Coronation Street' star Ryan Thomas illegally drove his girlfriend's Mini without a licence having not passed his test, it is reported today.

The 21-year-old actor, who plays Jason Grimshaw in the soap, drove the car owned by fellow star Tina O'Brien.

He is now taking legal advice as police investigate the matter.

Driving without a licence carries a maximum penalty of €4,500, while driving without insurance has a top fine of over €7,000.

Offenders can also be banned from driving.

A source at the soap said: "There was an instance where Ryan drove Tina O'Brien's car. He has not passed his test but is taking lessons."

It is not known whether Tina O'Brien, 22, who plays Sarah Louise Platt, knew her boyfriend had taken her car.
