Former East 17 singer Brian Harvey has spoken about the car accident which threatened his life.

The 31-year-old singer fell out of his car while reversing down a road several months ago, sustaining severe abdominal and leg injuries.

Harvey claims that he opened the door of his car because he felt sick but mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake when he did so.

In an interview with GMTV, Harvey said: "I had just been stuffing my face with a load of jacket potatoes and I felt sick, so I opened my car door to be sick."

"Instead of putting my foot on the brake, I put it on the accelerator and it flew back, I must have hit four or five parked cars. It must have thrown me out of the car."

The singer, who suffers from depression, denied that the injuries were sustained in a suicide bid. "If you were going to commit suicide you wouldn't do it like this, it was a complete accident," he said.
