A training scholarship is to be launched today in memory of 'Countdown' host Richard Whiteley.
The award will be presented to somebody who shows the potential to make a career in television.
The first scholarship in the television star's memory is to be offered for a Production Operations Diploma.
The scholarship, established by Channel 4 will offer the winning student the chance to complete their course with fees, equipment and accommodation paid for.
Whiteley's partner Kathryn Apanowicz said: "I think Richard would be absolutely chuffed to bits to have an active form of memorial, as this Scholarship will become."
"He was a very hard working person who would be thrilled with this tribute," she said.
Channel 4's chief executive Andy Duncan says: "We have created this scholarship as a lasting tribute, and I hope a fitting one, to Richard's memory."
