It has been announced that BBC 2 will broadcast Martin Scorsese's new documentary about Bob Dylan in the autumn.

'No Direction Home - Bob Dylan' will be simultaneously broadcast by BBC 2 and American public service broadcaster PBS on 26 and 27 September.

The 'Arena' documentary focuses on Dylan's early life and his music from the years 1961 to 1966 and features new interviews with the artist and previously unseen footage.

Commenting on the documentary, BBC Two controller Roly Keating said: "Bringing Dylan and Scorsese together for this remarkable documentary on Dylan's early life and the songs that changed a generation is a remarkable coup for BBC 2 and marks the pinnacle of 'Arena's 30 years on the channel."

He continued: "Bob Dylan is famously private and Martin Scorsese is greatly in demand as one of the most successful film directors in the world, so it was a huge undertaking for the 'Arena' team and their partners on this project. But the result is as awesome as you would expect from this fusion of great talent."
