Singer Elton John has been given a first-of-its-kind award for his charity work.
The singer, who performed at Live 8 in Hyde Park on Saturday, was given the Philadelphia City of Brotherly Love Award in recognition of his efforts to help sufferers from HIV and AIDS.
His AIDS foundation, set up in 1992, has raised over $30 million to help pay the medical expenses of HIV/AIDS sufferers worldwide.
He received the award on Monday, two days after performing at Live 8 and at a concert in Dublin.
