The Godfather of Soul is the latest legend to lend his support to Scotland's Live 8 concert.
James Brown confirmed he would perform at the star-studded charity gig at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium next Wednesday.
The American veteran will join Annie Lennox, Travis, Bono, Texas, the Corrs, the Proclaimers, Wet Wet Wet and a host of other bands on stage in the Scottish capital.
Organisers said the South Carolina soul star would be part of cavalcade of supporters and artists who would be arriving from outside Scotland.
Spokeswoman Jo Phillips said: "We are delighted to confirm that the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, will be joining the line-up at Murrayfield on Wednesday, July 6."
Speaking at a press conference in London, Brown said: "I know that people need help and I want to be a part of it in any way I can."
