The death was announced at the weekend of the renowned painter and Joycean scholar Gerald Davis. He was 67 and had been ill for some time.
In a career spanning five decades, Davis produced thousands of pieces of artistic work.
He represented Ireland abroad on many occasions, and was awarded a Gold Medal by the Arts Council in 1977.
A native of Dublin, he grew up within the city's strong Jewish community and later set up his own gallery on Capel Street, supporting and encouraging other painters.
A keen jazz fan, he also set up a record label to help Irish musicians.
He is survived by his daughters Debbie and Judy and his son Leslie.
