Auction website eBay has stopped the sale of free Live 8 tickets, after Bob Geldof publicly hit out at the site, describing it was an "electronic pimp".
The tickets, which were given away to winners of a text lottery, were attracting bids of hundreds of pounds on the site yesterday.
In reaction Geldof last night urged people to swamp the site by sending in massive bids and bogus offers to sell tickets.
In a matter of minutes bids of up to £10m were being placed on the site, prompting eBay to end the sale of Live 8 tickets.
A spokesperson for the website said: "We have listened to eBay's community of users and the message has been clear - that they do not want the tickets to be sold on the site."
