Harvey - Has further surgery after car accident

Former East 17 singer Brian Harvey has had throat surgery to help him breathe more easily, after receiving serious injuries in a car accident last week.

The singer has been kept unconscious with medication since the accident, in which he was crushed under the wheels of his own car.

Harvey was apparently reversing down a road with his door open when he fell from the car and was crushed under the wheels, breaking several bones in his legs and receiving serious injuries to his abdomen.

Harvey's manager, Simon Harrison, said that the latest operation was "more precautionary than emergency", and was performed to help drain fluid from his lungs, in order to ease breathing difficulties.

"He's still in intensive care, he's still on a ventilator helping him breathe. It's a very, very slow process. He hasn't moved, he hasn't spoken, and he's been unconscious all this time," Harrison said.
