The Strokes are set to release their third album in January.
Billboard reports that the band are nearing completion on the as-yet-untitled album and have recorded 14 songs.
Speaking to Billboard, The Strokes' manager Ryan Gentles described the record as being "a lot clearer and brighter".
"It's definitely new and fresh and they're doing things they never did on the first two," said Gentles.
"It sounds like what they've always wanted to sound like," he added.
The manager expects new music from the band to emerge in late October or early November and The Strokes will play "sneak preview shows" around the world before the album is released.
