The defence in Michael Jackson's child molestation trial has indicated that it could end its case earlier than expected.
Last week, Mr Jackson's legal team indicated it would rest its case by the middle of next month, but the singer's attorney, Thomas Mesereau, suggested yesterday that it could be earlier than that.
Yesterday Mesereau told Judge Rodney Melville that he had "pared down" the number of witnesses he planned to call.
After speaking to Mr Jackson's lead defence lawyer, the singer's spokesperson, Raymone Bain, said: "One of the things Mr Mesereau has indicated is that things are going pretty fast."
But she dismissed media reports and rumours by adding: "It is more than likely Mr Mesereau will not be resting his case next week."
Mr Jackson has denied all 10 charges against him.
