The jury in the Michael Jackson trial in California has been shown previously untransmitted footage of an interview he gave to the British journalist Martin Bashir.
The singer is seen discussing the loneliness of life as a celebrity.
In the footage the singer tells Bashir of his innocent love for children, saying: "I haven't been betrayed or deceived by children. Adults have let me down."
The jury also saw footage of the journalist praising Mr Jackson, saying: "My life, my romantic development, was shaped by your records."
Earlier the actor Macaulay Culkin appeared as a defence witness and denied that he had ever been molested by the singer.
Culkin said that he never saw Mr Jackson molest any other boys and admitted he shared the singer's bed in his early teens.
The actor dismissed allegations that he had been fondled by the singer as "absolutely ridiculous".
Under cross-examination Culkin refuted the suggestion that the singer may have molested him without his knowledge while he was asleep.
"I find that unlikely," he said. "I think I'd realise if something like that would happen."
The 24-year-old said that his sharing a bed with the singer had never been an issue for his parents and said that Jackson was "very childlike" at the time.
"He's more of a father now, but he still has childlike qualities," he added.
Culkin is the first celebrity to be called in Mr Jackson's defence; the singer's legal team has submitted a list of potential celebrity witnesses, which includes Elizabeth Taylor and Stevie Wonder.
