Palin says he's not quitting travel series

Television presenter and actor Michael Palin has denied that he is to quit making travel programmes after reports quoted him as saying he was "too old" to make another travel series.

"Contrary to press rumour, I have no intention of hanging up my boots" he said.

Britain's Sunday Times and Independent newspapers had reported that the former Monty Python star "might do the odd one-off programme, but no more series and definitely no more long trips".

But 61-year-old Palin has said in a statement that he "could not contemplate a life without travelling", which he describes as "stimulating, testing and rewarding".

Palin's televised travels began in 1988 when he recreated fictional character Phileas Fogg's trip around the world in 80 days. Later trips include 'Pole to Pole', 'Sahara' and last year's 'Himalaya'.

Palin says he is currently "taking a year's breather before deciding where to go next".
