Jamaican reggae singer Junior Delgado has died in London. He was 46.

Delgado, whose real name was Oscar Hibbert, died unexpectedly from natural causes, according to a spokesperson.

The singer, who was born in Kingston, had a successful 30-year-long career. Beginning as a member of a group called Time Unlimited, he later went on to have a succesful solo career.

Among Delgado's biggest hits were 'Sons Of Slaves', 'Away with Your Fussing and Fighting' and 'Raggamuffin Year'. He was continuing to play live and record new material.

In October 1985 the singer sparked controversy after releasing a track which predicted violence on the Broadwater Farm Housing Estate in London.

Shortly after the release a riot broke out, in which Police Constable Keith Blakelock was murdered. The controversial record was later banned in the UK.

Delgado is survived by his wife Janet and the couple's three sons. He also has four other children.
