Britney Spears has announced that she and husband Kevin Federline are expecting their first child together.
The 23-year-old made the announcement in a brief posting on her website.
The child will be Federline's third; he has two children by his former girlfriend, actress Shar Jackson.
Last year Spears wrote on her website about her desire to take a break from music and become a mother.
Spears and Federline have recently signed a deal for their own reality TV series.
