The women of 'Desperate Housewives' are to be joined by a new arrival in Wisteria Lane.
Variety reports that actress Alfre Woodard has signed a deal to star in the show next season.
She will play a seemingly normal woman who moves into Wisteria Lane with her son.
Woodard, whose film credits include 'Primal Fear', 'Radio' and the upcoming 'Beauty Shop', will appear as a guest star in the final episode of this season before returning as a regular in the next series.
