There was disappointment for the boy whose face featured on U2's 'Boy' and 'War' albums this evening when rare early photographs of the band by Anton Corbijn failed to sell at an auction in Dublin.
A single signed photograph U2 by Corbijn sold for €12,000 at Adams last year, raising expectations that the photos on sale at James Adams Salesrooms on St Stephen's Green today would fetch a similar price.
However, the photos, which were accompanied by a hand written note to Bono from the photographer, failed to reach their reserve price of €8,000.
The previously unseen black-and-white pictures of the four band members were put on sale by Peter Rowen, who also appears in the pictures.
