'She Didn't Say No!', a rare 1958 Irish film which has recently been restored by the Irish Film Archive, is to be screened at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
The film will be screened as part of the third edition of MoMA's international film preservation festival, 'To Save and Project', which runs from 26 May to 17 June.
Based on the novel 'We Are Seven' by Cork writer Una Troy, the film, which starred Anna Manahan, Hilton Edwards and Ray McAnally, followed a mother-of-six whose children were fathered by different men; it was banned in Ireland upon its release.
The film was feared lost until a badly decomposed copy was discovered in a film distributor’s collection in 2002.
Commenting on the film's selection for screening at the festival, Kasandra O'Connell, Head of the Irish Film Archive said: "It is an honour for a film from our collection to be selected for such an internationally renowned festival, it proves that the preservation of older Irish films is important in an international context."
