Hilary Swank, who won a best actress Oscar for the movie 'Million Dollar Baby', has been fined for failing to declare an apple and an orange when she visited New Zealand in January.
Swank, 30, admitted liability in a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Wellington.
She was issued an infringement notice by Quarantine Service officials on 15 January at Auckland International Airport when she arrived on a flight from Los Angeles.
The NZ$200 (€109) fine plus costs of NZ$30 (€23) was imposed by the Manukau District Court, according to the statement.
Visitors to New Zealand are required to declare all food items they are carrying upon entry to the country to prevent the introduction of exotic pests.
