Singer Tony Christie is to appear as himself in an episode of 'Emmerdale' in the summer.
Christie, currently at the top of the UK singles charts with the re-release of his song 'Is This the Way to Amarillo?', will duet with 'Emmerdale' character Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) in the episode.
She meets Christie while on a trip to Newcastle with Marlon (Mark Charnock), Donna (Verity Rushworth) and Viv (Deena Payne) for the Top Pub Chef of the North contest.
Commenting on his casting, Christie said: "My mum is more impressed that I will be on 'Emmerdale' than she is with my Number One single! This is something that I have never done before and I am really looking forward to it."
The episode will be shot in July and broadcast in August.
