Television presenter Graham Norton has been announced as the presenter of this year's BAFTA television awards.

The comedy star, who has previously won three BAFTA awards, will host the ceremony at London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on 17 April next.

Norton said: "Obviously being asked to host the BAFTA awards is a huge thrill, not to mention a lot easier than sitting in the audience pretending to be pleased for the winners."

"However, the job does come with its own worries - will I be able to pronounce all the names? Will I be able to go for two hours without a drink?," Norton joked.

Nominations of the 2005 BAFTA television awards will be announced on 14 March.

Norton is soon due to host 'Strictly Dance Fever', a 'Strictly Come Dancing' spin-off, after signing a multi-million pound deal with the BBC last year.
