Scottish rock outfit Franz Ferdinand head up the nominations for this year's NME Awards, contesting five categories.
The band is nominated in the categories for Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track ('Take Me Out') and Best Video for the awards.
Irish rock band U2 have been nominated for Best International Band and Best Track for 'Vertigo'.
Singer Pete Doherty's former band The Libertines are up against his new band Babyshambles in the Best Live Band category. Also contesting the award are Franz Ferdinand, Muse and Razorlight.
The nominations for Best International Band are Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Scissor Sisters, The Strokes and U2.
In the running for the Best Solo Artist award are Ian Brown, Graham Coxon, Eminem, Morrissey and The Streets.
The Best New Band award will be contested by Babyshambles, Bloc Party, Kasabian, The Killers and Razorlight.
The nominations for Best Album are Franz Ferdinand, ('Franz Ferdinand'), Green Day ('American Idiot'), The Libertines ('The Libertines'), Scissor Sisters ('Scissor Sisters') and The Streets ('A Grand Don't Come For Free').
U2's 'Vertigo' will compete against Franz Ferdinand ('Take Me Out') The Libertines ('Can't Stand Me Now'), Razorlight ('Golden Touch') and The Streets ('Dry Your Eyes') for the Best Track award.
