Emir Kusturica to head Cannes jury

Bosnian director Emir Kusturica will be president of the jury at the 58th Cannes Film Festival.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the festival will run from 11 to 22 May.

Kusturica is a double Palme d'Or winner, with awards for 'When Father Was Away on Business' in 1985 and 'Underground' in 1995; he also won the Director's Prize in 1989 for 'Time of the Gypsies'.

Commenting on his appointment, Kusturica said: "I have set my task as jury president to place aesthetics and art at the heart of the event."

Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami will head this year's jury for the Camera d'Or, the prize awarded to the best film across all sections at Cannes.
