U2 will begin their 2005 world tour on 28 March in the US.
Billboard exclusively reports that the band's first show is at the San Diego Sports Arena and that the tour will be officially announced on Monday 24 January.
Commenting on the tour, U2's manager Paul McGuinness told Billboard: "We are, I suppose, that rarest of things: a major touring attraction that is still having number one records all over the world after 25 years."
The North American leg of the tour will run until late May, after which the band will head to Europe for 30 stadium dates, beginning on 19 June in Brussels, before returning to the US.
U2 will perform at this year's Grammy Awards ceremony on 13 February in Los Angeles.
