The five category winners of the 2004 Whitbread Book Awards have been announced.
2004 Orange Prizewinner Andrea Levy won in the Novel Award category for her book 'Small Island'.
The First Novel Award went to Susan Fletcher for her book 'Eve Green'.
Geraldine McCaughrean won her third Children's Book Award for her book 'Not the End of the World'.
The Poetry Award went to Michael Symmons Roberts for his collection 'Corpus' and John Guy was named the winner of the Biography Award for his book 'My Heart is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots'.
Each category winner receives £5,000 and takes their place on the shortlist for the 2004 Whitbread Book of the Year, with the winner announced on Tuesday 25 January.
