RTÉ's 'Killinaskully - the Nativity' was the top-rating television programme with viewers across all Irish television channels this Christmas.

The comedy special reached over 1.3m viewers and attracted an average audience of over 814,000 on RTÉ One on Christmas Day.

The pilot episode of 'Killinaskully' was the ninth most popular programme of the year when transmitted last December and the subsequent series during the autumn attracted an average of almost 500,000 viewers per episode.

RTÉ One had a greater proportion of viewers than any of the three other Irish channels from 5.10pm on Christmas Day, with 'Die Another Day' and 'Fair City' attracting average audiences of 587,000 and 399,000 respectively.
