RTÉ Television has unveiled a new programme line-up for the 2005 schedule.
The schedule will include new drama, entertainment, sport and factual programmes from home and abroad.
'Showbands', a two-hour drama about the showband era set in 1965, begins on 2 January at 9:25pm on RTÉ One.
Drama series 'Proof' will also return to screens later in the year.
Gay Byrne will present 'Class Reunion', a show which reunites high profile personalities with their school mates and teachers on RTÉ One in February.
RTÉ Two will launch a new dating show called 'The Ex Files' and a travel show titled 'How Low Can You Go?' in February.
Playwright Seán O'Casey's daughter Shivaun will direct and narrate an intimate portrait of her father's life for 'Arts Lives', to be aired on 4 January at 10:15pm.
The new schedule will see the introduction of two new US sitcoms to RTÉ Two with 'Friends' spin-off 'Joey' airing on 3 January at 9pm, and 'Desperate Housewives' starting at 10pm on Tuesday 4 January.
Sports programming will include coverage of the Premiership, the Six Nations and racing among other sporting events.
