The winners of the 17th European Film Awards were announced in Barcelona on Saturday night.
Actress Imelda Staunton built on her success at the Venice Film Festival by winning the Best Actress award for her performance in 'Vera Drake'.
Best Actor went to Spanish star Javier Bardem for his performance in 'Mar Adentro' ('The Sea Inside').
The film's director, Alejandro Amenabar, whose credits include 'The Others', was named Best Director.
'Gegen Die Wand' ('Head-On'), which won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival, was named Best Film.
