Brookstein scoops X Factor record deal

Pub singer Steve Brookstein is preparing to launch his music career after winning the reality television show 'X Factor'.

The 35-year-old beat off competition from classical outfit G4 to win the final of the ITV show, scooping a £1m record deal.

Brookstein, who was under the charge of 'X Factor' judge Simon Cowell, will now launch his first single on 20 December.

"This is not happening. I do not believe it. I just can't believe how far I've come," Brookstein said when the results were announced.

The singer encountered heavy criticism throughout the show, with Louis Walsh branding him a Fred West lookalike and Sharon Osbourne calling him an average, overly confident singer.
