Soul legend James Brown is to undergo surgery after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The 71-year-old is to have surgery on 15 December and is expected to spend three weeks convalescing.
In a statement, Brown said: "I have overcome a lot of things in my life. I will overcome this as well."
The BBC reports that he still plans to tour Asia and Australia next year.
