RTÉ Television has won a higher percentage of the available television audience in peak-time viewing in September and October 2004 than in the previous two years.
In the peaktime slot, between 6pm and 11.30pm, RTÉ Television secured a total of 44.9% of the available audience in September, compared to 41.7% in September 2003 and 42.7% in September 2002.
In October of this year RTÉ Television claimed 46.1%, compared to 41.7% in September 2003 and 42.7% in September 2002.
New home-produced series such as 'The Clinic', 'Killinaskully' and 'Tubridy Tonight' have all attracted large audiences.
In addition newly rescheduled programmes like 'Making Babies', 'Scannal!', 'True Lives', 'Off the Rails', 'Ryan Confidential' and 'Reeling in the Years' have also secured high viewing audiences.
Noel Curran, Managing Director of RTÉ Television, said: "These figures are particularly remarkable given the increasingly competitive nature of the television landscape."
