Ice skating legends in television comeback

Ice-skating sensations Torvill and Dean are to make a television comeback as part of a new ITV1 reality television show, 'Stars on Thin Ice'.

The former Olympic champions will go head to head in the programme, which will see each of them train a team of celebrities to dance on ice.

The celebrities who are participating in the show have not yet been named but it is believed the show will take the same format as current music-based reality shows, with the contestants facing a public vote each week.

In 1984 an estimated television audience of 24m tuned in to watch Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean win gold at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics.

Meanwhile, former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been reported to be amongst the line-up of celebrities who will feature in the Christmas special of the BBC's reality television dancing show 'Strictly Come Dancing on Ice'.
