Comedy actor Steve Martin has been awarded the American Cinematheque Career Achievement Honour.
The star of 'Father Of The Bride' was honoured at a ceremony in Beverly Hills, with the organisation praising him for his excellence as an actor, comedian, novelist, art collector and banjo player.
Martin joked about the award and the film industry during his acceptance speech. "There are so many familiar faces tonight, people I've worked with, people I haven't seen in years and I just thought: Why can't we wear name tags? What would be so wrong?," he said.
Previous winners of the award include Nicole Kidman, Mel Gibson, Eddie Murphy, Sean Connery and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
American Cinematheque is a non-profit arts organisation, which uses proceeds from its annual awards ceremony to fund screenings and other events throughout the year.
